Stand Your Ground

Dear LA Drivers,

I think I can safely assume that you have made a right turn at one time or another. Correct?

And I'm sure we have all walked down a street, as well. Correct?

Then please tell me why you, as a pedestrian, think it's acceptable to stand with your toes off the edge of the sidewalk while you're waiting for the light to turn green? Yeah yeah, I know this isn't a commentary of your driving skills, but seriously, I have to know. You must realize that you're inches away from being clipped by the 2,000 pound metal death box that is turning right, right in front of you. Why do you take that chance?

Really, it's not fair to the driver. Because if the driver hits you, the driver gets in trouble, not you. This is where I wish "Darwinism" was a valid legal defense. You're basically asking to be hit when you stand that close to moving traffic.

So for the love of all that is holy, please stand a foot away from the curb's edge.

Thanks!

  1. That is super annoying and you know what else stinks? When the pedestrian starts crossing and their opportunity is all but passed. Then the drivers have to wait for them to finish crossing even when it's their turn to go.
